Snow Totals & Looking Ahead

Another weekend, another round of accumulating snow for the Quad Cities.  Dry air moved in onto the north side of the storm which cut off snow totals just a little bit.  The center of low pressure also took a more southern track as well, which shifted the higher totals more southeast of the area.  Still, a respectable 2 to 7" fell across the CBS4 viewing area.

Looking ahead, we are in for another cold period of weather.  Fortunately, it doesn't look to be as cold as the last two outbreaks but we'll still see a few days with temperature dropping below zero overnight.  We also have multiple chances for snow.  The earliest chance comes later on Tuesday, where a storm moves in from the southwest.  It is TOO EARLY to throw out snowfall forecasts.  Too many variables have to come together, and we aren't so sure on the exact track the storm will take.  I've seen a map from another weather source being tossed around the Internet that puts down 18-24" of snow.  That is simply NOT true.

Stay tuned over the next couple days for updates on the snowfall chances.  We will not throw out any amounts until we have a better idea on how this next storm will play out.
