Tricky Snow Forecast

A clipper will race through the area late tonight and early Wednesday...and it's proving to be a tricky forecast!  There will be an extremely sharp cutoff with this storm.  Parts of the CBS4 viewing area could see up to 4 inches of powder tonight, while some towns South of the Quad Cities won't see any snow at all!  That cutoff line lies very close to the Quad Cities and that makes for a tough forecast this evening.  Right now I'm leaning toward the lower end of the 1-2" range for the Quad Cities and the 0-1" range setting up shop through portions of Louisa and Mercer counties.  That leaves Galesburg with hardly any snow at all!  Here's some data to look over, with brief explanations of each piece of info...

The latest NAM output shows most of the snow staying just North of the Quad Cities tonight...

This data shows several forecast models, and their ranges of snow for the Quad Cities.  Notice the range from close to nothing up to about 3 inches.

The Winter Weather Advisory does include the Quad Cities...

There's a little more data to go through, especially over the next couple hours but it looks like the forecast will be for 1-2" in the Quad Cities, and we'll probably end up close to the 1 inch end of the spectrum!
