Solar Flare on April 16th

NASA satellites observed a solar flare on Monday of this week (4/16) and the eruption occurred at 1:45pm Eastern Time. Even though the video shows a dramatic explosion, the earth is not at risk, since the coronal mass ejection went in the other direction. The flare registered in the middle of the intensity scale ( M1.7 class). NASA is watching the sun as it is in an active 11 year period, with a peak in activity expected in 2013.
