We're looking at some warm weather for the first week of QC Friday night football! After a couple cool Fridays over the last 2 weeks the summer heat is back this week. Highs ended in the middle 90s on Friday and kickoff temps should be in the 80s for most games! The sun sets at 7:47 in the QC and by the end of most games temps should be down in the 70s!

More Rain on the Way!!!
A low pressure system will track across the Quad Cities Sunday afternoon into your Monday. It'll usher in some much needed rain. In fact, some weather models are showing neighborhoods around the QC could pick up an inch of rain or even a bit more. The areas colored in blue have the best chance of picking up an inch or more by Monday afternoon. We'll keep you posted!

Saturday's Storm Reports...
The Quad Cities welcomed some much needed rain on Saturday. But, of course Mother Nature didn't bring the rain in quietly. The severe storms caused a lot of wind damage around the QCA on Saturday and the storms didn't just wreak havoc here, but also to our east. All of the blue dots represent reports of wind damage (201 reports) and there was even a report of a tornado in northwest Indiana Saturday night.

July 2012 Drought Stats
Tonight marks the end of a month of extremes in the Quad Cities! It was the 6 hottest July ever and the 7th driest July on record in the Quad Cities! Take a look at some of our cornfields, yards and trees and you can quickly tell that's a bad combo! We ended up with 22 days at or above 90° and a whopping 5 days at or above 100°! Over the last 25 YEARS or so before this month we'd only had 6 days at or above 100°! T

The first week of August looks hot too, with a decent chance for showers/storms Saturday night...

Wild Temperature Ride!
Temps took some interesting turns on Thursday in the Quad Cities! We started off with some clouds, then we turned sunny. Around 4pm a quick t-shower rolled through and by 6pm skies cleared back up. Finally this evening a cold front rolled through the area dropping temps this evening!
QCA Drought Worsens
The new drought status is out and much of the QCA is now under an EXTREME drought. This is the 2nd most severe category on a 5 category scale. Rain has been spotty over the last few days with a few locations picking up decent amounts while most places only saw meager totals...of course the HOT weather this month has not helped out either!

Dog Days of Summer
From Wikipedia: "Dog Days" (Latin: diēs caniculārēs) are the hottest, most sultry days of summer. In the Northern Hemisphere,
the dog days of summer are most commonly experienced in the months of
July and August, which typically observe the warmest summer temperatures.
That being said we can officially say we are in the DOG DAYS of summer in the Quad Cities! Tuesday's high was 99° and Wednesday looks almost just as hot!
Tuesday ties for the 3rd hottest day so far this summer!
